Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you gorgeous people! Hangovers aside, I hope your first day of 2021 is full of happiness and positivity for what the year ahead will bring.

2020 has had its ups and downs but there is still so much to be thankful for, and I am so proud about how much we have achieved in our first year at the Perfect Dress Company!

It’s been an incredible journey so far and I've been reflecting on the past year; how far we’ve come, the challenges and what they've taught me and what exciting things I've got planned for this year...

What I'm thankful for in 2020…

Firstly, I’m so thankful for each and every one of our lovely customers who have purchased something from us in our first year, whether it was a piece of jewellery or one of our dresses – your support has been unbelievable! I have also been overwhelmed by the kind messages and feedback I have received, as a new fashion brand it has really helped us shape our brand offering and has been so valuable to us. We often ask our PDC community for your opinions on things such as new styles, packaging, or what jewellery items you would like to see over on our social media channels, so thank you for getting involved and telling us what you think – good or bad!

I am also extremely thankful for the amazing team behind the Perfect Dress Company, who have been involved over the years from when it was just an idea, to now having officially launched and selling the products we love, fulfilling our mission to make women feel and look amazing.

My family have been my rock throughout this whole year; my husband Darren, who has listened to my crazy ideas, picked me up when I’ve struggled and has kept the kids fed when I’m busy working away in the office! My gorgeous stepdaughters Amber and Lauren have always been there with a helping hand and my little three-year-old Sophia has even stuck a few labels on some of your parcels!

Not only have I had the close support of my friends and family, but I’m so grateful for all the celebrities, influencers and journalists who have noticed what we are doing as brand and have featured us on their social pages and magazines/newspapers which has really helped us get our message out there.

What I've learnt in 2020…

Wow! I’ve learnt so much over this year, it really has all been a massive learning process. From knowing absolutely nothing about the fashion industry to being described as a ‘Super start-up punching about its weight’ in the leading fashion magazine Drapers – it really shows how far we have come in such a short time, and in a challenging year too

This year, I’ve learnt to say yes to every opportunity, big or small, you never what it might bring or who you might meet – taking risks and fully immersing myself in the brand has been super important.

I’ve learnt that you can’t please everyone as a brand, at the start I wanted to cater for everyone but soon realised I needed to refine our offering and our key messaging – creating figure-flattering dresses for women of all sizes. We have found our voice and our own space in the fashion industry by going against what other brands are doing. You have to have a thick skin when owning a business, as not everyone is going to love your products as much as you do!

I’m a strong believer in the fact that kindness brings kindness, this year especially, everyone has had their own challenges and I’ve learnt it’s so important that we remember to be kind not just during a pandemic, but every day!

What I'm looking forward to in 2021...

We’ve got lots of exciting things planned for 2021 and I cannot wait to tell you all about them!

Firstly, we are launching our Bump to Baby range later this month – which has been designed to fit you throughout every stage of your pregnancy and afterwards too. Our bodies are always changing, and our key message at the Perfect Dress Company is that we believe fashion should be designed to fit, flatter and complement your bodies no matter your shape or size.

I’m excited for our V Neck Nip & Tuck dress to arrive in February – it is now available to pre order in black, navy, plum, green, teal, and red colours £95 – click here to pre order!

I’ve been busy working on some exciting new prints for the dresses too, which I can’t wait to show you, plus we will be adding some more items to our Darcy Rose Meaningful Jewellery collection.

We will also be hosting our Incredible Women Awards, which were put on pause last year due to Covid, so I’m looking forward to celebrating all of the amazing women who have been nominated.

My life motto is to dream, believe, achieve – and I can’t wait to see what 2021 brings for us and the Perfect Dress Company!

Happy New Year everyone.
